CRACKED BARREL

The ship was a 1,45,000 dwt Crude Carrier powered by a Man B&W main engine, enroute to Discharge Port.

We observed main engine unit # 3 not firing. The fuel valves were renewed and engine tried out, but without any response.

The problem was solved by changing the fuel pump plunger-barrel assembly.

The old barrel as found to have a crack; hence unserviceable.
