OIL SPILL AT MUMBAI HIGH
23rd Nov 2006
Vessel "A" & "B" were double banked. Vessel A was loading crude oil from offshore platform and simultaneously was also discharging crude oil to vessel "B". During operation by mistake vessel "A" loading line valve was shut and caused spillage of crude oil. Fortunately the oilspill was restricted to vessel deck and cleaned off instantly.
Loading pipe line of vessel "A" came out from V.J. coupling and moved toward the outside. Ship staff took three hours to bring back pipe line in position by means of chain blocks and fitted in position with new V.J. coupling, and loading resumed.
