AUX ENGINE NOT STARTING DUE TO THE FAILURE OF BATTERY SUPPLY TO THE GOVERNOR MOTOR

Name:Mr Ramamoorthy, C/E

The ship was in anchorage, and the auxiliary engine failed to start due to the governor linkage was at zero and the motor did not operate. Pilot on board, and the vessel was required to move to berth.

Since the running A/E was running with high JCW temperature, it was imperative to start this aux engine to assist in sharing the load. The fuel linkage was manually pulled out, engine was started and run at normal RPM. It was taken in parallel with the running alternator with difficulty, and once the power was established, the governor motor supply was resumed and the situation made normal, thereby avoided embarrassment during pilotage.
