B.TECH( MARINE ENGINEERING) DEGREE COURSE - 4 YEARS (8 SEMESTERS)
   
Candidate should have Passed in (10+2) or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English as separate subjects with a PCM average of not less than 60%
Or
Candidate can join 2nd year of 4-Year Marine Engineering Degree Course provided he has passed 1st year training from the Alternate Training Scheme, approved by D.G. Shipping (This will not be applicable to MERI.)
Or
Candidate can join 2nd year of 4-Year Marine Engineering Degree Course who have passed 1st year from the Engineering College in other streams like Mechanical or Electrical approved by AICTE with minimum 60% average marks.
Or
Candidate can join 2nd year of 4-Year Marine Engineering Degree Course who have passed 3 years Diploma Course in Mechanical / Marine / Electrical / Electrical and Electronics from the colleges approved by AICTE or State Board of Technical Education with minimum 55% of aggregate marks in the last year of Diploma Course.

All above should have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in English language at 10th or 12th Std or in the Degree/Diploma conducted by a recognized board or university
   
Age Limit
  17 to 25 years as on 31st of July.
   
Physical Standards
  Medically fit as per the standards set by M. S. Medical Examination Rules, 2000.
   
Eyesight
  6/6 in each eye without visual aids. Normal colour vision. Candidates have to undergo a full eyesight test conducted by the Mercantile Marine Department before being finally selected for the course.
   
 
B.SC. (NAUTICAL SCIENCE) COURSE - 3 YEARS (6 SEMESTERS)
 
   
Candidate should have Passed in 10+2 or equivalent with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry with a PCM aggregate of not less than 55%.
Or
Candidate possessing B.Sc.in Physics, Mathmatics, Chemistry or Electronics with an average of not less than 55% of marks in the final year and with Physics as individual subject in one of the year,.
Or
Candidate possessing B.E./B.Tech. Degree from I.I.T or from a college recognized by AICTE.
 
All the above should have English language as a subject, at either 10th or 12th standard or in the Degree/Diploma course, conducted by the Board or any University with not less than 50% marks.
   
Age Limit
  17 to 25 years as on 31st July.

DIPLOMA IN MARINE ENGINEEERING (DME)
   
Applicants should possess Diploma in Mechanical / Marine / Naval Architecture / Electrical / Electricl and Electronics Engineering with minimum of 50% in English at 10th or 12th std, or degree course .
   
Age Limit
  Maximum 28 years of age as on 1st of March or 1st of September.
   
Physical Standards
  Medically fit as per the standards set by M. S. Medical Examination Rules, 2000.

DIPLOMA IN NAUTICAL SCIENCE (DNS) - 12 MONTHS
   
Candidate should have Passed in HSC (10+2) or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English as separate subjects with a PCM average of not less then 55%
   
Candidate possessing B.Sc. Degree in Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry or Electronics with Physics as individual subject in one of the year, with an average of not less than 55% of marks in the final year
   
Candidate possessing B.E./B. Tech. Degree from I.I.T or from a college recognized by AICTE
   
Age Limit
  Maximum 25 years of age as on 1st of January or 1st of August.

GRADUATE MARINE ENGINEERING (GME) – 1 YEAR
   
Candidate should have B.E. / B.Tech., in Mechanical Engineering or Naval Architecture with minimum 50% marks in final year. The candidate should have obtained at least 50 % in English at 10th or 12th std, or degree course.
   
Age Limit
  Maximum 28 years of age as on 1st of March or 1st of September.

G.P. RATINGS – 6 MONTHS
Candidates should have Passed 10th standard from a recognized educational board with Science and Mathematics as subjects. The marks obtained should be 40% in overall and 40 % in English language alone.
   
Should qualify a Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by the Board of Examination for Seafarers (BES) for admission with effect from January 2012 Batch. The written test comprises of questionnaire from English, Mathematics and Science in three sections. The Maximum marks would be 50 and a candidate need to obtain 40 % marks in each section. A Physical Endurance test would also be conducted to ascertain the physical standard of the candidate.  On successful completion of the above the candidates need to indicate three choices of Institutes for admission in to the course, wherein candidate seeking admission at HIMT could indicate the same as their 1st choice.

  Not more than 25 years at the time of commencement of the course.
