FAMILIARISATION COURSE FOR MEDICAL EXAMINER OF SEAFARERS(DFC)
All Medical Practitioners having minimum qualification of Bachelor degree of Medicine & Bachelor Degree of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent are eligible to be enrolled as an approved Medical Examiner of Seafarers at such port or place. The Medical Practitioner should have valid registration with the applicable Medical Council and not exceeding 65 years.

This course is open to those seafarers who have completed a basic course in fire fighting; and

Either have prior electrical or electro-technical experience in a shipboard environment or have completed 12 months sea service as an Engineer Officer of the Watch (EOOW) while holding an unlimited EOOW Certificate of Competency (CoC) STCW REg. III/1.
Seafarers desirous of obtaining the ETO CoC valid for High Voltage Ships have to complete the High Voltage Course as per the DG said Training Circular No. 01 of 2011, for an issuance of the ETO CoCs valid for High Voltage Ships.

CHIEF MATE PHASE I [PH1]

Candidate must have at least nine months of approved sea service after obtaining a Second Mate (F.G) certificate of competency (Officer in charge of a navigational watch on ships of 500 gross tonnage or more)

90% attendance is compulsory for this course. However, if a candidate's performance in the internal assessment test is good. 75% attendance would be acceptable subject to concurrence of the head of the institution.
   
   
CHIEF MATE PHASE II [PH2]
Candidate must have at least eighteen months of approved sea service after obtaining a Second Mate (F.G) certificate of competency (Officer in charge of a navigational watch on ships of 500 gross tonnage or more)
Satisfactory attendance and performance in Internal assessment test of Phase I. A pass in the MMD examination in Phase I is not necessary for a candidate to attend Phase II of the course

MASTER'S PHASE III COURSE (ASM)
- Must have Certificate Of Compentency (COC) as First Mate (FG).
- Should have Sea Service of 12 Months after obtaining 1st Mate (FG) Certificate Of Compentency (COC) and 36 Months Sea Service after obtaining 2nd Mate (FG) COC.
- The duration of 36 Months will be reduced to 30 Months if sailed as a Chief Officer for 12 months after obtaining First Mate (FG) COC.
 
   
   
RATING FORMING A PART OF ENGINE ROOM WATCH COURSE (MOTORMAN)
The Course is open to seafarers who undergone approved Pre-Sea Training for a Period of Ninety Days followed by not less than 6 months sea service or 9 months sea service in Engine Room related work
The trainee must possess approved Basic Fire Fighting Certificates
The trainee must have valid First Aid Certificate from an approved institute
The trainee must not be less than 18 years of age.

REVALIDATION COURSE FOR MASTERS & DECK OFFICERS [RM]
Candidates holding Master FG CoC under STCW 1995 for Upgradation to STCW 2010
-Candidates holding Chief Mates FG CoC under STCW 1995 for Upgradation to STCW 2010
-Candidates holding Chief Mates FG CoC under STCW 1995 whether undergone ASM course under the old or new syllabus,
-Candidates who have done Chief Mates Phase II under STCW 1995, The course may be done before or after Chief Mates (F.G) Phase II Competency course, or before or after the ASM course as applicable. - This course also includes RMFA, RMC, RSSO and PSSR course.
   
REVALIDATION COURSE FOR MASTERS & DECK OFFICERS-OPERATIONAL LEVEL[RM-O]
-Holders of Second Mates FG CoC under STCW 1995 for Upgradation to STCW 2010.
-Candidates appearing for Second Mates FG CoC following the existing certification scheme under STCW 1995.
-Nautical stream graduate candidates appearing for Second Mates FG CoC following the existing certification scheme under STCW 1995.
-Candidates who have undergone Second Mates function course after 15th Dec 2010 under the revised syllabus are exempted from attending this course.
- This course also includes RMFA, RSSO and PSSR course.
   
Bridging Course for Existing Electrical Officers to Electro Technical Officers
i) All those Indian seafarers who have completed 1(one) year of sea service as Electrical Officers prior to 1st January, 2012, are required to appear only for oral examinations for obtaining ETO CoC. These candidates are neither required to appear for written papers of the ETO examination nor need to undergo any training courses such as bridging course;
(ii) All those Indian seafarers who have completed 1 (one) year of sea service as Electrical Officers prior to 1st July,2013 is required to attend a 3 (three) weeks Bridging Course for the existing Electrical officers and thereafter appear for the ETO oral examination for obtaining the ETO CoCs . These candidates are not required to appear for written papers of the ETO examination. lt is to be noted that the transition period as per the STCW convention provision is applicable to the Electrical Officers, who have sailed prior to 1st July' 2013' but not to the Trainee / Assistant Electrical officers. Any other candidate (Trainee / Assistant Electrical officer or any other nomenclature of Electrical officer not having performed independent duty as Electrical officer) will fall under category (iii), as mentioned below. The designation of Assistant Electrical officer / Electrician / Electro Technical officer, etc. will be considered as Electrical officer for the purpose of Electro-technical officer's assessment and examination' if the company certifies that the seafarer has performed independent duties of Electrical officer and was not assistant to another Electrical officer in performing duties of an Electrical officer on board a ship;
(iii) Existing Electrical officers not falling under the category mentioned above at (i) and (ii), but have sailed prior to 1st January ,2015, for a period of 12 months as Electrical Officers' are required to attend 4 months pre-sea ETO course and, thereafter, appear for written and oral examinations to obtain their cocs as ETOs. This category of lndian seafarers, however, will be allowed to appear, for the 4 months pre-sea ETo course, irrespective of meeting the eligibility criteria of age, educational qualification, etc, as stipulated in the said STCW Training Circular No. 1 of 2011 dated 10.02.11 of this office;
(iv) All other Electrical Officers having performed sea-service on or after 1st January,2015, as Electrical officers, Assistant Electrical officers, Electro-Technical officers, Electrician, Trainee Electrical Officer, etc. will have to meet the educational qualification and age requirements as stipulated in this office said STCW Training Circular 1 of 2011 for the ETO certification;
   
Refresher Course for Medical Examiner of Seafarers(RDFC)
This course is open to Registered Medical Practitioners having minimum qualification of MBBS or, equivalent seeking approval as Medical Examiner of Seafarers and existing approved Medical Examiners.
