While sailing at sea a sudden abnormal surging sound was heard followed by a blackout.

Main Engine on full speed also tripped. However there were no ships or other navigational dangers near by.
Reason for the power failure was investigated and detected as a Turbo Charger bearing break down of the single running generator.

Situation was immediately brought under control by putting full load on Stand By Generator. On inspection of T/Charger it was noticed that blower side bearing lamination springs were broken. Said bearing had run only for about 2500 hrs.
